Safety and Accountability
Elect Our Sheriff

One cannot look at the dysfunction in the Sheriff’s Department, and the jail and think that the system that we voted for in 2009 is working.

Our aim is to fix a broken system with a strategic plan to bring attention to the existing problem and the solution, engaging the public and convincing The County Council to pass a resolution to bring a charter amendment to the voters, making the Cuyahoga County Sheriff an elected position.

Vision

At the Northeast Ohio Public Safety Foundation, our vision is to establish a public safety system that reflects the values and needs of our local communities. We envision the restoration of an elected sheriff in Cuyahoga County, who will be directly accountable to the people. By promoting transparency, community engagement, and effective leadership, we strive to create a jail system that prioritizes the safety, well-being, and rehabilitation of inmates, while ensuring the protection and trust of our community.

Addressing Issues in the Jail

The Cuyahoga County Jail has faced significant challenges in recent years, including concerns related to inmate safety, overcrowding, inadequate healthcare, and a lack of effective rehabilitation programs. Incidents of mismanagement and corruption have further highlighted the urgent need for reform within the jail system. As an organization, we are dedicated to addressing these issues and advocating for comprehensive improvements that prioritize the dignity and well-being of inmates.
